INTRODUCTION 

  Altshuler Berzon LLP is a San Francisco law firm that specializes in labor and employment, environmental, constitutional, campaign and election, and civil rights law. Although most of our cases are in federal and state courts in California, we appear regularly in courts throughout the country and before the National Labor Relations Board.

(March, 2008) Altshuler Berzon LLP is pleased to announce its new Of Counsel:
  Hamilton Candee
As of March 17, 2008, Hamilton Candee has become of counsel to the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Candee was a Senior Attorney in the San Francisco office of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Co-Director of NRDC's Western Water Project.

During his 23 years at NRDC, Mr. Candee was involved in a variety of efforts to restore ecosystems, protect endangered species, encourage water conservation, and promote other environmental reforms in federal and state water policy. Mr. Candee’s work has included successful challenges to the renewal of long-term federal water contracts in California’s Central Valley, successful defense of the 1992 Central Valley Project Improvement Act against various legal challenges and a landmark settlement to restore the San Joaquin River. Mr. Candee was named by California Lawyer magazine a "Lawyer of the Year" in 1999 for his work pursuing restoration of the San Joaquin River. Mr. Candee was recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the NRDC Action Fund.

Mr. Candee previously served as a law clerk to Judge Thelton E. Henderson of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and as a legislative assistant in the U.S. Senate.
